Terrific Tidings: Two-Player Holiday Tournament

2-Player Mahjong Tournament | Morning Session Sunday, December 6, 2026 | $100 per player Let the Holiday Mahj Begin! Twice the players, twice the excitement! Join The Polished Tile, Hill Country Mahjong, and RackIt Mahjong for a festive morning of American Mahjong with a competitive twist! Our 2-Player Tournament brings a fresh spin to the game you love, featuring fast-paced rounds, strategic play, and a little holiday magic. Enjoy complimentary beverages during tournament play, followed by light bites after the competition! Tournament Format: • Three rounds of competitive play, each consisting of two games within 45 minutes. • Five-minute breaks between rounds. • Players compete individually in a two-player Mahjong format. • Scores are recorded for each game and accumulated across all three rounds. • The two highest-scoring players at the conclusion of the tournament will be awarded first and second place. Tournament Scoring: Each completed Mahjong earns the point value printed on the 2026 NMJL card. Incomplete hands score zero points. Bonus Points • Jokerless Hand: +15 points per Mahjong. • Concealed Hand: +10 points per Mahjong. • Same Section Bonus: +30 points when both Mahjongs are completed from the same NMJL card section. Penalties • False Mahjong: −15 points for each incorrect Mahjong declaration. Return unexposed tiles to your hand and continue playing. • Too Few Tiles: −15 points per missing tile. Draw the necessary tiles on your next turn. • Too Many Tiles: −15 points per extra tile. Your opponent removes one random tile for each extra tile and returns it to the end of the draw wall. A Few Things to Know: Please arrive at least 30 minutes before tournament play begins for check-in. Players must bring their own 2026 NMJL card and are expected to be familiar with two-player Mahjong tournament rules and scoring procedures before arriving. Tournament director decisions regarding scoring, disputes, and final standings are final. Two prizes will be awarded.
