TERRIFIC TIDINGS: A VERY MERRY MAHJ TOURNAMENT 4-Player Mahjong Tournament | Afternoon Session Sunday, December 6, 2026 | $175 per player Making Spirits Bright, One Mahj at a Time! Join The Polished Tile, Hill Country Mahjong, and RackIt Mahjong for an afternoon of American Mahjong, spirited competition, beautiful tiles, and festive holiday fun! Whether you're a seasoned tournament player or ready to experience your first competition, we invite you to celebrate the season around the Mahjong table. Enjoy complimentary beverages and light bites throughout the tournament! Tournament Format: • Three qualifying rounds, each consisting of four games played within 60 minutes. • Five-minute breaks between qualifying rounds. • Standard American Mahjong rules apply using the 2026 NMJL card. • Players compete individually, with rotating table assignments. • Scores accumulate throughout all three qualifying rounds. • The four highest-scoring players advance to the Championship Round. • Championship finalists carry their accumulated scores into the final round. • The Championship Round consists of two games played within 30 minutes. • Final standings are determined by cumulative scores. Tournament Scoring: Points are awarded according to the winning hand's value on the 2026 NMJL card. • +10 points for picking your own winning tile. • −10 points for discarding the winning tile. • Double points for winning without jokers (except Singles & Pairs). • −20 points for discarding the winning tile when the winner has three or more exposures. • +10 points to each player for a wall game. • 0 points for a dead hand, incomplete game, or a game in which you do not win. A Few Things to Know: Please arrive at least 30 minutes before tournament play begins for check-in. Players must bring their own 2026 NMJL card and are expected to be familiar with standard American Mahjong rules and tournament scoring procedures before arriving.
